This listing covers the inclusion-focused strand of Birmingham Tech Week, recorded here as Fair Tech and presented on the official event page under the title Tech For All. Run as part of the week organised by Birmingham Tech CIC, the day examines how emerging technologies can reduce or deepen inequality across society, education, work and public services. The strand is a single full-day, in-person conference in Birmingham, United Kingdom, on Tuesday 20 October 2026, running from 08:30 to 16:00 at Eastside Rooms. Its programme combines keynotes, panel discussions, lightning talks and live demonstrations of inclusive technology products. Themes include inclusive AI and accessibility, digital exclusion, ethical innovation, neurodiversity, gender and ethnic representation, social mobility and LGBTIQ+ inclusion, along with the funding gap facing underrepresented founders. The day is designed for community organisations, educators, accessibility advocates, policymakers and technology leaders who want practical ways to embed inclusive practice into product design and governance. Sessions on career pathways and inclusive leadership give the event relevance well beyond engineering teams. Within the broader festival, this responsible technology conference in Birmingham keeps equity and access on the agenda while the region's tech sector grows.

A single day in Birmingham puts a premium on choosing well. The obvious move is Digbeth, the former industrial quarter southeast of the centre that has become the city's creative district — brick railway arches, street art covering entire warehouse walls, and independent venues in buildings that were making custard a century ago. It sits a ten-minute walk from the conference core and needs no planning at all.
Birmingham Airport (BHX) links via the free Air-Rail Link monorail to Birmingham International, then around ten minutes by rail to Moor Street or New Street. Moor Street station is the closer of the two to Digbeth and a considerably more pleasant building. Direct trains reach Birmingham from London in roughly 90 minutes, and the city sits at the centre of the national rail network.
Skip the taxi queue — pre-book a fixed-price airport transfer with Kiwitaxi. Exploring beyond the city? compare rental cars on EconomyBookings.

Central Birmingham has strong coverage on every major UK network, with public Wi-Fi in most venues and cafés. Arranging an eSIM before arrival means stepping off the airport monorail already connected, which matters on a single-day schedule. Set up an eSIM with Airalo before you board and you're online the moment you land.
Digbeth street art. The largest concentration of large-scale murals in the city covers Floodgate Street and the surrounding arches, refreshed regularly by the annual festival. Self-guided and free, with the Custard Factory complex at its centre. Forty-five minutes on foot from the city core.
Ikon Gallery. Contemporary art in a converted Victorian school building at Brindleyplace, with free entry and a well-regarded café. Exhibitions rotate frequently and the scale is manageable in under an hour, which makes it a realistic stop between sessions.
Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery. Home to an internationally significant Pre-Raphaelite collection alongside the Staffordshire Hoard of Anglo-Saxon gold. Centrally located in Chamberlain Square. Check current opening arrangements ahead of a visit; ninety minutes covers the highlights.
Balti Triangle. South of the centre in Sparkbrook, the neighbourhood where the balti was invented in the 1970s still holds a cluster of the original restaurants. A fifteen-minute taxi ride and the most distinctive evening meal the city offers. Many venues are unlicensed.
Which station is most convenient?
Moor Street sits closest to Digbeth and the eastern side of the centre; New Street is the larger interchange with more direct national services.
Can I see much in a single evening?
Yes. Digbeth, the canal basin and the central squares are all within a twenty-minute walk of each other, so an evening covers a reasonable amount.
What is the weather like in late October?
Cool and frequently wet, with daylight ending in the late afternoon. Waterproofs are worth carrying for any outdoor walking.
