1. About conventions.io

conventions.io is a read-only directory of technology conferences aggregated automatically from public sources. We do not sell products or services. We do not require account registration. Our goal is to help developers and tech professionals discover relevant events.

2. Analytics Data

We use Umami, a privacy-focused analytics platform that operates without cookies and does not store IP addresses or personally identifiable information. The following aggregated, non-identifiable data is recorded:

• Page views and referrer URLs (anonymized)
• Approximate visitor location at city and country level, derived from the network request — the IP address itself is never stored
• Browser type and operating system (aggregated only)

This data is retained solely by us and is never sold or shared with third parties.

3. Cookies & Local Storage

Our analytics platform (Umami) is fully cookie-free by design. However, we use your browser's local storage to remember:

• Theme preference — your chosen colour scheme (light / dark). Never sent to our servers.
• My Roadmap (pinned conferences) — the list of conferences you chose to save. Contains only publicly available conference data. Cleared automatically when conferences end. Never sent to our servers.
• Cookie consent — your Accept or Decline choice, remembered for one year.

Third-party cookies may be set by our advertising and affiliate partners' networks (see section 6) — but only if you accept the cookie banner. If you decline, no partner tracking pixels load and no third-party tracking cookies are set by this site.

4. Conference Data & Accuracy

Conference information displayed on conventions.io is collected automatically from public sources including conference websites and community-maintained databases. We make reasonable efforts to keep this data accurate, but we cannot guarantee its completeness or correctness.

⚠ Users must verify all dates, locations, pricing, and other details directly on the official conference website before making travel or financial arrangements.

5. Third-Party Links

Conference listings link to official conference or organizer websites. Separately, some clearly-labelled promotional placements use affiliate links (see section 6). We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of external websites. When you click "Visit Official Website," you leave our site.

6. Advertising & Affiliate Links

conventions.io displays third-party advertising and affiliate promotions (currently course offers from Udemy, served through affiliate partner networks such as impact.com). These partners may use tracking cookies and pixels for attribution. Passive tracking pixels load only after you click Accept in the cookie banner — if you decline, they are never loaded. We do not currently serve ads via Google AdSense; if that changes, this policy and the consent banner will be updated first.

Some links on this site are affiliate links (e.g. via impact.com). If you click an affiliate link and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate links are disclosed with a "Sponsored" label or the footer notice. They do not affect which conferences we list or how we rank them.

You can opt out of personalised Google ads at adssettings.google.com.

7. Data Retention

Conference records are automatically removed when their end date has passed. Cancelled conferences are removed within 7 days. Aggregated analytics data is retained for up to 12 months and then deleted.

8. Your Rights (GDPR)

We do not store personal information that can identify individual visitors. If you believe we are inadvertently retaining data about you, please contact us and we will investigate immediately.
