The first days of December are prime season in Dubai: daytime temperatures around the low to mid twenties, cool nights and no humidity to speak of. A two-day forum drawing fifteen thousand people from a hundred-plus countries means the real work happens in side meetings, and the city is built for exactly that, with hotel lobbies, marina terraces and late-opening restaurants functioning as extended networking floors well past midnight.
Dubai International (DXB) sits close to the city and connects directly to the Red Line metro; Al Maktoum (DWC) lies much further south. The metro's two lines run along the main arteries and are cheap and fast, though the emirate is spread out and taxis or ride-hailing fill the gaps. Abu Dhabi is roughly 90 minutes away by road if you are combining trips.
Skip the taxi queue — pre-book a fixed-price airport transfer with Welcome Pickups. Exploring beyond the city? compare rental cars on EconomyBookings.
Hotels and malls provide solid Wi-Fi, but several voice and video calling apps are restricted on UAE networks, which catches visitors out mid-trip. A data eSIM set up before you fly keeps messaging, maps and ride-hailing working from the moment you land. Set up an eSIM with Airalo before you board and you're online the moment you land.
Al Fahidi Historic District. Wind-tower houses and narrow sikkas in Bur Dubai, the clearest surviving picture of the pre-oil city. Combine it with an abra crossing of the creek to the gold and spice souks for a few dirhams. December mornings are perfect for it; allow two hours before the day heats up.
Museum of the Future. The calligraphy-clad torus on Sheikh Zayed Road, presenting speculative exhibits on ecology, space and wellbeing rather than a conventional collection. Tickets sell out days ahead, so book early. Around two hours, and the metro drops you at Emirates Towers a short walk away. Tickets on Klook →
Burj Khalifa observation decks. The 124th and 148th floor decks give the definitive view over the city and out to the desert. Sunset slots are the most sought after and priced accordingly; a late-morning visit is cheaper and clearer in winter. Ninety minutes including the queue and the Dubai Mall approach. Tickets on Klook →
Dubai Marina and JBR. A dense cluster of towers around an artificial waterway, with a promenade running down to the beach at Jumeirah Beach Residence. This is where much of the visiting crypto crowd actually stays and meets. Walk the marina loop after dark, or take a short dhow ride; free unless you board something.
What is the weather like in early December?
Close to ideal, with daytime highs commonly in the low to mid twenties Celsius, low humidity and evenings cool enough for a light jacket. Rain is uncommon but not impossible.
Are calling apps restricted in the UAE?
Some voice and video calling services are blocked or limited on UAE networks. Plan to use standard messaging or business conferencing tools, and confirm what your team relies on before travelling.
Is the metro enough to get around?
The Red and Green lines cover the main corridors including the airport, Downtown and Marina, but Dubai is spread out. Expect to combine the metro with taxis or ride-hailing for anything off those axes.
