FastAPI Conf is a community-organised Python conference listed by the python-organizers network. Talks and tutorials cover the language and its ecosystem — web frameworks, data science and machine learning tooling, packaging, testing and performance — with tracks for newcomers as well as core-adjacent deep dives. Like most PyCons it is run by volunteers, keeps tickets accessible and usually ends with sprints where attendees contribute to open-source projects alongside maintainers.
FastAPI Conf 2026 takes place October 28, 2026 in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
FastAPI Conf 2026 is an in-person event.

Late October puts Amsterdam in its quietest, most liveable stretch: canal water goes glassy, the elm leaves turn, and daylight fades by about six. For a one-day Python gathering that is close to ideal, because the city compresses well — most of what you would want to see sits inside a thirty-minute walk of the ring of canals. Expect eight to twelve degrees, frequent drizzle, and a cycling culture that treats rain as a non-event.
Amsterdam Schiphol (AMS) is the single gateway, and the train station sits directly beneath the terminal. Intercity services to Amsterdam Centraal leave several times an hour and take roughly fifteen to twenty minutes. From Centraal, trams and the north-south metro line reach most of the centre in under fifteen minutes. Many attendees skip transit entirely and walk. Taxis and rideshares run to the centre in twenty-five to forty minutes depending on traffic.
Skip the taxi queue — pre-book a fixed-price airport transfer with Welcome Pickups. Exploring beyond the city? compare rental cars on EconomyBookings.
Dutch mobile coverage is excellent and public wifi is common in cafes and stations, though speeds vary sharply once you are inside a busy venue. An eSIM activated before you land saves hunting for a shop on arrival day. Set up an eSIM with Airalo before you board and you're online the moment you land.
Rijksmuseum. The Netherlands' national museum, built around the Dutch Golden Age collection. Book a timed slot and go at opening or after three to avoid the mid-morning crush. Two hours covers the highlights; the passage cutting through the building is free to walk and worth it even if you skip the galleries. Tickets on Tiqets →
Jordaan district. A former working-class quarter west of the centre, now narrow streets of brown cafes, courtyard hofjes and small galleries. Best explored without a plan for an hour or two before dinner, when the lamps come on along the Prinsengracht. Free, and the most pleasant walking in the city.
Van Gogh Museum. Holds the largest collection of the painter's work anywhere, arranged chronologically so the arc of his career reads clearly. Tickets are timed and sell out days ahead in autumn. Allow ninety minutes. It sits on the Museumplein, a five-minute walk from the Rijksmuseum if you are combining both. Tickets on Tiqets →
NEMO Science Museum rooftop. The green-hulled science museum east of Centraal has a stepped public roof terrace that is free to climb, with one of the better open views over the old harbour and city. Ten minutes on foot from the station. Go at dusk; October sunsets here arrive conveniently early.
Do I need to rent a car?
No. Amsterdam is compact, parking is expensive and heavily restricted, and trains and trams reach everything an attendee would need. Walking and cycling are the local default.
What is the weather like in late October?
Cool and often wet, typically around eight to twelve degrees Celsius with short rain showers and early dusk. Bring a waterproof layer rather than an umbrella, which the wind tends to defeat.
How do I pay for things?
Card payment is near-universal and many places are cashless. Note that some Dutch shops and transit machines accept Maestro or local debit only, so carry a credit card as well.
