Postgres Summit US lands in Manhattan at the very end of September, when New York shakes off summer humidity and settles into crisp, walkable early-autumn weather. Grand Central Terminal. Worth twenty minutes even if you are not catching a train, for the celestial ceiling and the whispering gallery arches outside the Oyster Bar. It is a short ride uptown from the venue and pairs naturally with a walk down to Bryant Park afterwards.
Staten Island Ferry. Free, frequent, and it passes the Statue of Liberty in both directions. A round trip takes about fifty minutes with no ticket queue at all. Head for the right-hand side outbound, and time it near sunset for the best view back at the Lower Manhattan skyline.
Which airport is easiest for a SoHo hotel?
JFK is the most reliable because the AirTrain feeds directly into the subway with no bus transfer. Newark works well if your flight options are better there, arriving into Penn Station.
Do I need to rent a car?
No. Driving and parking in Manhattan are expensive and slow, and the subway plus walking covers everything around the venue comfortably.
