PyConES 2026 is the largest national Python conference in Spain, gathering hundreds of enthusiasts, professionals, and companies in Barcelona over three days to share knowledge and opportunities across the Python ecosystem. PyConES brings the Spanish-speaking Python community to Barcelona in early November, and it is a different crowd from the international conferences the city usually hosts: mostly domestic, arriving by high-speed rail, and sociable in a way that runs on late dinners. November empties the beaches but opens up everything else, and the hillside neighbourhoods above the centre are at their most pleasant when the heat has gone.
Most attendees arrive at Barcelona Sants, the high-speed rail hub, which puts Madrid two and a half hours away and Valencia under three. From El Prat, the R2 Nord train reaches Sants in about 20 minutes. Sants connects to the Metro's L3 and L5, so onward travel to almost any conference hotel is a single ride.

Santa Maria del Mar. The fourteenth-century Catalan Gothic church in the Born was built by the port workers whose district it served, and its bare stone interior is a deliberate contrast to the cathedral's decoration. Entry is free at certain hours, and a separate ticket allows a rooftop visit over the old city.
Tibidabo. The mountain behind the city carries a basilica, a century-old funfair with original rides, and the widest view in Barcelona. Getting there is half the appeal, by tram and funicular from Avinguda Tibidabo. Check opening days in November, when the amusement park runs a reduced schedule.
Sant Antoni. The renovated market hall and the streets around it have become the city's most liveable central district, with vermouth bars, bookshops and a Sunday second-hand book market under the arcade. It is a fifteen-minute walk from Plaça Universitat and useful for dinner away from the tourist grid.
What language are the sessions in?
PyConES is primarily a Spanish-language conference, with some talks in English. Attendees without Spanish should check the programme, though the hallway track is generally bilingual.
Is a car useful?
No. Barcelona's Metro, buses and commuter rail cover everything, parking in the centre is scarce and expensive, and a low-emission zone restricts older vehicles on weekdays.
Are there extra accommodation costs?
Catalonia charges a tourist tax per person per night, collected by the hotel and varying by category, plus a Barcelona city surcharge. It is small but not always shown in the booking price.
