SpiceWorld is the annual conference of the Spiceworks community, the long-running online network for IT professionals. The event brings together system administrators, IT managers, help-desk staff and infrastructure practitioners who run day-to-day technology operations inside organizations of every size, and it serves as an in-person extension of the peer discussions that take place on the Spiceworks forums throughout the year. The 2026 edition is scheduled as an in-person IT conference in Austin, Texas, on 12–13 November 2026. Its two days combine practical sessions on systems administration, security, cloud services, endpoint management and the broader direction of the IT profession with time for meeting vendors and fellow practitioners. Pre-conference workshops have featured hands-on technical training on the Microsoft stack, scripting and automation. Attendees gain practical techniques that can be applied back at the office, a clearer view of how IT budgets and priorities are shifting, and contacts with peers facing similar operational problems. For working IT generalists who rarely get conference time devoted to their own day-to-day challenges, SpiceWorld remains one of the few large gatherings built specifically around their role.

Austin in mid-November is one of the better weeks of the Texan year, with warm afternoons, cool evenings and none of the summer heat that defines the city from June onward. An IT professional conference here lands in a town organised around live music, where the venue district and the bar strips are close enough to walk between. Two days is short, so the choice is usually between the river trail and Sixth Street.
Austin-Bergstrom International (AUS) sits around thirteen kilometres south-east of downtown, roughly twenty minutes by rideshare or taxi outside peak periods. The Capital Metro 20 bus runs the same route for a couple of dollars but takes closer to forty minutes. Downtown itself is walkable, and the MetroRail Red Line serves the northern suburbs rather than the core.

Mobile coverage is strong across downtown and the university area. International visitors generally find a prepaid eSIM the cleanest way to avoid roaming charges on a short domestic-scale trip. Set up an eSIM with Airalo before you board and you're online the moment you land.
Texas State Capitol. The pink granite capitol is taller than the national one in Washington and free to enter, with self-guided access to the rotunda and grounds. Around forty-five minutes, and it sits at the north end of Congress Avenue within a fifteen-minute walk of downtown hotels.
Lady Bird Lake Hike-and-Bike Trail. A ten-mile loop along the Colorado River directly south of downtown, flat and well surfaced, with the skyline on one side and cypress trees on the other. Doing the shorter three-mile inner loop takes about an hour. Ideal before sessions start.
South Congress Avenue. The stretch of shops, food trailers and music venues immediately south of the river, reached on foot across the Congress Avenue bridge in fifteen minutes. Evenings are busiest. The bridge itself hosts a large bat colony, though most have departed by November.
Rainey Street. A row of converted bungalows now operating as bars and kitchens, on the eastern edge of downtown and the shortest walk from most conference hotels. It is compact, loud after dark and the standard destination for a group evening. An hour or a whole night.
What is the weather like in mid-November?
Comfortable, with daytime highs commonly in the low twenties Celsius and evenings dropping to around ten. A light jacket for the evening is usually enough.
Do I need a rental car?
Not for a downtown conference. Rideshare covers the airport run and most attractions are within walking distance of the centre.
How far is the airport from downtown?
About twenty minutes by car outside rush hour, or forty minutes on the Capital Metro 20 bus.
