TechMids Conf is a full-stack technology conference held in Birmingham, organised by TechMids, the network that connects technology community groups across the West Midlands. The single-day event serves as the annual meeting point for those otherwise separate meetups and user groups. That origin shapes the conference. Rather than serving a single language or discipline, it draws together communities that normally meet independently — frontend, backend, infrastructure, data and design groups — producing an audience with genuinely mixed specialisms in one room. Organisers describe themselves as open to proposals spanning technology and technology-adjacent topics, aimed at a relatively technical audience made up predominantly of members of the Birmingham and West Midlands technology community. The result is a programme that mixes hands-on technical sessions with material on practice, career and the working realities of the profession. For developers, engineers and technologists across the Midlands, TechMids Conf offers a locally rooted alternative to London-centred conferences and direct access to the regional professional network that sustains it year-round.
TechMids Conf 2026 takes place November 27, 2026 in Birmingham, United Kingdom.
TechMids Conf 2026 is an in-person event.

Birmingham is Britain's second city and the centre of a Midlands tech community that has grown substantially over the past decade. A one-day conference in late November finds the city compact and easily managed on foot, with the canal network and the Victorian civic core within a short walk of most venues. Expect grey skies, early darkness and a well-established Christmas market in full swing.
Birmingham Airport (BHX) connects to Birmingham International station by a short automated people mover, then roughly ten minutes by train to New Street in the city centre. New Street, Moor Street and Snow Hill stations together give direct rail access from London, Manchester and most of the country. The centre is walkable end to end, supplemented by trams on the West Midlands Metro line.

UK mobile coverage in the city centre is solid across all networks. Visitors from outside the UK will find an eSIM cheaper than post-Brexit roaming rates. Set up an eSIM with Airalo before you board and you're online the moment you land.
Birmingham Frankfurt Christmas Market. The largest authentic German market outside Germany and Austria, running the length of New Street and Victoria Square through late November and December. Busy after work on weekdays and extremely busy at weekends. An hour is enough unless committing to a full evening.
Library of Birmingham. A striking filigree-clad building with public terraces and the Shakespeare Memorial Room on the upper floor. The rooftop garden gives free views across the city. Around an hour, and it doubles as a warm, quiet place to work between sessions.
Jewellery Quarter. A historic manufacturing district still producing a significant share of UK jewellery, with the Museum of the Jewellery Quarter preserving a workshop exactly as it was abandoned in 1981. Ninety minutes covers the museum and a walk around the streets.
Birmingham Canal Walk. The city has more canal miles than Venice, and the towpaths from Brindleyplace toward Gas Street Basin are the most rewarding stretch. Forty-five minutes at an easy pace, best in daylight. Waterside pubs make a natural end point.
How do I get from the airport to the centre?
Take the Air-Rail Link people mover to Birmingham International station, then a train to New Street. The whole journey takes around twenty minutes.
Is Birmingham walkable?
Yes. The central area including all major stations, the market and the canal basin is comfortably walkable in under half an hour end to end.
What is the weather like in late November?
Cold and frequently wet, with temperatures typically between three and nine degrees Celsius and darkness falling by mid-afternoon.
