Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum. An unexpectedly substantial collection of Egyptian antiquities in the Rose Garden neighbourhood, housed in buildings modelled on Egyptian temple architecture with a reconstructed rock tomb. It is the largest such collection in western North America. Ninety minutes, a short drive or bus ride from downtown.

Do I need a car in San Jose?
It helps. Downtown is walkable and VTA light rail and Caltrain cover the main corridors, but the valley is spread out and a car makes side trips much easier.
