Data Summit occupies two days in mid-May, which is close to the ideal window for Boston: the long winter is finally over, the Charles River fills with rowers, and the city's parks are in full leaf before the summer humidity arrives. It is a compact, low-rise city by American standards, and the historic core sits within walking distance of the harbour, so a two-day conference leaves genuine room for exploring on foot.
Logan International (BOS) is unusually close, about five kilometres from downtown across the harbour. The Silver Line bus is free from the airport terminals and runs into South Station in around 20 minutes. The Blue Line via a shuttle bus is the alternative. Boston has dense coverage and the T has been steadily adding platform and tunnel service, so staying online across the city is rarely an issue. Fenway Park. The oldest ballpark in Major League Baseball, and mid-May is mid-season, so a game is a real option rather than just a tour. Tours run year-round and last about an hour. If you go to a game, take the Green Line rather than driving.
