Devnexus 2027 is a Java and AI developer conference in Atlanta with deep community roots: it was founded in 2004 by the Atlanta Java Users Group. More than two decades on, it has become one of the largest Java ecosystem gatherings in North America, covering the JVM, frameworks, cloud-native development and the growing role of AI in everyday software engineering. The 2027 conference runs from 29 to 31 March at the Georgia World Congress Center. Its scale is significant: ten tracks, more than one hundred sessions and workshops, and an audience of over 1,500 developers. That breadth allows the programme to serve both seasoned Java architects and developers who are newer to the platform or exploring how AI tooling fits into their work. Attendees can choose from a wide spread of technical sessions, take part in hands-on workshops and meet speakers and peers across the three days. The community origins of the event remain visible in its focus on practical, developer-to-developer knowledge sharing. For the Java community, Devnexus is a key annual fixture where the ecosystem takes stock of where the language and its tooling are heading, and where new AI-driven practices are tested against real experience.

Devnexus brings Java and AI developers to the Georgia World Congress Center from 29 to 31 March, on the western edge of downtown Atlanta beside Centennial Olympic Park and the Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The timing coincides with the city's dramatic spring: dogwoods and azaleas burst into bloom, and so does Atlanta's notorious pine pollen, which can coat cars yellow overnight. Allergy sufferers should pack antihistamines; everyone else gets warm afternoons and the city's tree canopy at its brightest green.
Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International (ATL), one of the busiest airports in the world, has its own MARTA rail station inside the domestic terminal. Trains reach the stations serving the congress center in roughly 20 to 25 minutes, avoiding the notoriously congested highways. A taxi or rideshare takes 20 to 40 minutes depending on traffic. Amtrak's Crescent route also stops at Atlanta's Peachtree station.

Mobile coverage is excellent across downtown and the convention district. Visitors from abroad can save on roaming fees by activating a US eSIM before landing. Set up an eSIM with Airalo before you board and you're online the moment you land.
Martin Luther King Jr. National Historical Park. In the Sweet Auburn district, about ten minutes east by car or streetcar, this site includes King's birth home, Ebenezer Baptist Church and the King Center. Exhibits are free. Allow two hours, and note that tours of the birth home are limited, so check availability in advance.
Atlanta BeltLine Eastside Trail. A former railway corridor turned walking and cycling trail lined with murals, breweries and restaurants, linking neighbourhoods such as Old Fourth Ward and Inman Park. Ponce City Market, a converted warehouse with a food hall, sits along the route. An evening stroll of an hour or two works well after sessions.
Atlanta Botanical Garden. Next to Piedmont Park in Midtown, the garden is especially lovely in spring, with a canopy walk through the treetops, orchid houses and seasonal displays. Allow two hours. Combine it with a walk through Piedmont Park, but take the pollen season into account if you are sensitive. Tickets on Tiqets →
Oakland Cemetery. A Victorian garden cemetery founded in 1850, a short ride east of downtown, with ornate mausoleums, old oaks and views of the skyline. It is the resting place of Margaret Mitchell and many city founders. Grounds are free to explore; spend an hour and consider a guided tour on weekends.
Is it worth taking MARTA from the airport?
Yes. The train leaves from inside the terminal and avoids rush-hour traffic, reaching downtown in about 20 to 25 minutes.
How bad is the pollen in late March?
It is often at or near its seasonal peak. Visitors with allergies should bring medication and check daily pollen counts.
