Barcelona in mid-October keeps summer's warmth without its crowds, with sea temperatures still swimmable and days around twenty-two degrees Celsius. Systems programming events here typically use venues in Poblenou or the Eixample, both on the metro and within reach of the beach. The city's grid layout makes navigation straightforward, and the Catalan dinner hour means evening programmes can run late without difficulty.
Barcelona El Prat (BCN) is fifteen kilometres southwest. The Aerobús reaches Plaça Catalunya in about thirty-five minutes, metro line L9 Sud connects to the network, and Rodalies R2 Nord trains run to Sants and Passeig de Gràcia. Within the city, the metro is fast and extensive, and a T-casual multi-journey ticket is far better value than single fares.

Spanish networks cover Barcelona thoroughly, including the metro. An eSIM removes roaming costs for non-EU visitors and works from the moment you land at El Prat. Set up an eSIM with Airalo before you board and you're online the moment you land.
Sagrada Família. Gaudí's basilica requires timed tickets booked well ahead, particularly for tower access. Ninety minutes inside is typical. Late afternoon light through the western stained glass floods the nave with colour and is the single best reason to choose that slot over a morning one. Tickets on Tiqets →
Park Güell. Gaudí's hillside park in Gràcia, with the monumental zone ticketed and timed while the surrounding woodland stays free. Two hours covers both. Metro plus a steep climb or the bus 116 gets you there. The terrace view over the city toward the sea is the payoff. Tickets on Go City →
Gothic Quarter and El Born. The medieval core between Via Laietana and the Ramblas, dense with narrow lanes, the cathedral, and the Santa Caterina market. Two hours of walking without a fixed route works best. El Born, immediately east, holds the Picasso Museum and better evening dining.
Montjuïc. The hill south of the centre, holding the Joan Miró Foundation, the MNAC art museum in the national palace, and the 1992 Olympic facilities. A cable car and funicular reduce the climb. Half a day covers a museum and the terraces, which give the widest view over the port. Tickets on Tiqets →
