Game Developers Session 2026 is the 24th edition of the longest-running games development festival in Central Europe, organised by Eventia and Active Radio with support from the City of Prague. The event covers the full chain of making and selling games, from game technologies and production to business, publishing and marketing, and draws developers, studio leads, publishers and students from across the region. The festival takes place on 11-12 December 2026 at the Prague Congress Centre, a few minutes' walk from the Vyšehrad metro station. Organisers cite more than 90 speakers, over 70 independent titles and an audience of around 3,000 visitors. The programme spans talks in a main conference hall and several lecture halls, practical workshops, an expo floor and dedicated indie zones where unreleased games are shown to players and industry guests. Beyond the sessions, attendees gain access to meeting zones and matchmaking for business conversations, plus two evening parties that encourage informal networking. For indie teams the showcase offers direct feedback and visibility with publishers, while established studios use the event to recruit and share production experience. As a long-standing regional meeting point, GDS helps connect the Czech and wider Central European games scene with the international industry.
Game Developers Session 2026 takes place December 11–12, 2026 in Prague, Czechia.
Game Developers Session 2026 is an in-person event.

Game Developers Session brings the regional games industry to Prague in mid-December, when the city is cold, often grey and lit up by its Christmas markets. The Prague Congress Centre sits on a hill in Vyšehrad, south of the historic core, with wide views back over the rooftops. Expect short daylight, temperatures around freezing and festive crowds in the Old Town, which makes evenings after the talks and the indie showcase feel unmistakably wintry.
Václav Havel Airport Prague (PRG) is the city's only international airport. Buses connect the terminals to metro stations on line A, and an airport express bus runs to the main railway station; taxis and ride-hailing take roughly 30–45 minutes depending on traffic. The congress centre is next to the Vyšehrad stop on metro line C, a few minutes from the city centre, so most attendees stay near the river and commute by metro.

Czech mobile coverage is strong across Prague, including inside the metro, but roaming charges can bite for visitors from outside the EU. An eSIM set up before departure keeps maps and messaging working from the moment you land. Set up an eSIM with Airalo before you board and you're online the moment you land.
Vyšehrad fortress. A short walk from the congress centre, the old fortress grounds hold the Basilica of St Peter and St Paul, the Vyšehrad cemetery and quiet ramparts over the Vltava. In December it is far calmer than the castle district. Allow an hour, ideally around sunset, which comes early in the afternoon at this time of year.
Old Town Square Christmas market. The market fills Old Town Square through December, with wooden stalls, mulled wine and a large tree in front of the Týn Church. It is busiest on weekend evenings, so go straight after the second conference day or early in the morning. The Astronomical Clock on the Old Town Hall sits on the same square.
Prague Castle and St Vitus Cathedral. The castle complex across the river is one of the largest in the world and needs at least two to three hours. Winter brings shorter opening hours and colder courtyards, so start early. Tram connections from the centre climb the hill, sparing you the steep walk up from Malá Strana. Tickets on Tiqets →
Charles Bridge. The medieval stone bridge linking the Old Town with Malá Strana is lined with baroque statues and is crowded by midday. Crossing at dawn or late in the evening gives the clearest views of the castle, and a December frost can make the scene especially atmospheric. It takes about fifteen minutes to walk end to end.
How do I get from Prague airport to the Prague Congress Centre?
Take the airport bus to a metro line A station, change to line C and ride to Vyšehrad, which is next to the venue. A taxi or ride-hailing car takes about 30–45 minutes.
What is the weather like in Prague in mid-December?
Expect temperatures close to freezing, short daylight hours and a chance of snow or drizzle. Pack a warm coat and waterproof shoes for walking between the metro and the markets.
Can I pay by card in Prague?
Cards and contactless payments are widely accepted, but the local currency is the Czech koruna, not the euro, so carry a little cash for small market stalls.
