The Emerging Technologies Conference (ETC 2027), also presented as the Frontiers in Emerging Technologies and Systems Conference, is a multidisciplinary research event spanning intelligent systems, robotics, neurotechnology and biotechnology, medical technologies and financial technologies. Its topics range from AI and autonomous systems and human–robot interaction to brain–computer interfaces, digital health and blockchain, and it targets academic researchers, PhD candidates, industry R&D teams, start-ups and technology policy specialists. The conference is based in Adelaide, South Australia, with participation possible either in person or online. At the time of writing, the official site lists the venue, final dates and submission deadlines as still to be confirmed, so the February 2027 schedule should be checked against the organisers' announcements. Accepted papers are presented in short ten-minute slots following a camera-ready submission process. The programme is set to combine keynotes and plenaries with joint industry–academic sessions, a doctoral consortium, an innovation showcase and networking events. For researchers working across the boundaries of AI, health technology and fintech, this emerging technologies conference in Adelaide in 2027 offers an Australian venue where very different disciplines share a single programme.

Adelaide in February is at the height of an Australian summer, with hot dry days and long light evenings that push the city outdoors. The conference arrives during the city's festival season, when the compact CBD grid, surrounded on all sides by parkland, hosts an unusual density of events. Adelaide is walkable in a way few Australian capitals are, and the hills and coast are both close.
Adelaide Airport (ADL) sits unusually close to the city, roughly 15-20 minutes by road or a direct bus service into the CBD. Domestic connections through Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane are frequent; most international arrivals route through those hubs. In the city, trams run free through the central grid, and buses and trains cover the suburbs and coast.

Connectivity across the Adelaide CBD is strong and free public Wi-Fi covers parts of the central grid. Signal weakens in the Adelaide Hills wine country. Visitors from overseas will find an eSIM significantly cheaper than roaming on Australian networks. Set up an eSIM with Airalo before you board and you're online the moment you land.
Adelaide Central Market. One of the largest undercover fresh produce markets in the southern hemisphere, running six days a week beside Chinatown. It is the best single introduction to South Australian food. Go mid-morning for the full range of traders; an hour is enough, longer if you stop to eat. Tickets on Klook →
Glenelg Beach. The tram from the city centre runs directly to this beach suburb in about half an hour, ending at a jetty and a wide stretch of sand. February evenings are warm well past sunset. It is the standard local escape from summer heat, and the return trip fits easily into an evening.
Adelaide Botanic Garden. On the CBD's eastern edge, with a Victorian palm house, a large glasshouse of tropical rainforest species and shaded lawns that matter in February heat. Entry is free. Allow ninety minutes, and go early or late to avoid the hottest hours of the afternoon.
Adelaide Hills wineries. Twenty to thirty minutes east of the city, the hills hold cool-climate vineyards producing chardonnay and pinot noir at altitude. Tours run from the CBD, which solves the driving problem. A half-day trip is realistic, and summer weekends book out quickly. Tickets on Klook →
How far is the airport from the city?
Adelaide Airport is around 15-20 minutes from the CBD by road, one of the shortest airport transfers of any Australian capital.
What is the weather like in February?
Hot and dry, frequently above 30C. Sun protection and water are necessary, and indoor sessions will feel considerably cooler.
Is public transport sufficient?
Yes for the city and coast — trams through the CBD are free, and the Glenelg line reaches the beach directly.
