Insomni'hack 2027 is a cybersecurity conference in Lausanne organised by Orange Cyberdefense Switzerland, running from 1 to 5 February 2027. The event combines hands-on workshops, a conference programme of more than twenty talks and a capture-the-flag contest, and it draws penetration testers, security researchers, defenders and students who want offensive and defensive security covered side by side. The week is hosted at the SwissTech Convention Center on the EPFL campus. Its structure is what sets it apart: the opening days are given over to practical workshops, the talks follow, and the CTF turns the final stretch into a competitive, team-based test of skill. Attendees leave with new technical skills from the workshops, exposure to current research from the talk tracks, and the experience of solving challenges under time pressure alongside other teams. The mix of learning and competition also creates ample room to meet peers from industry and academia. As a long-running fixture of the Swiss security calendar, Insomni'hack gives the regional hacking community a shared place to test ideas and sharpen its craft.

Insomni'hack runs for five days in early February at the SwissTech Convention Center on the EPFL campus in Ecublens, just west of Lausanne. It is one of Europe's best-known hacking events, combining talks, workshops and a renowned capture-the-flag contest. Winter on Lake Geneva is cold but usually less harsh than in the mountains, with frequent fog over the water and snow on the surrounding Alps, which are close enough for a ski day before or after.
Geneva Airport (GVA) is the nearest major airport, with direct trains from the airport station to Lausanne taking roughly 45 to 50 minutes. Zürich Airport (ZRH) is about two and a half hours away by train. From Lausanne or Renens station, the M1 metro runs to the EPFL stop next to the convention centre in about 10 to 15 minutes. Swiss trains are frequent, punctual and easy to navigate.

Switzerland is outside the EU, so many European mobile plans charge for roaming here. Setting up an eSIM before arrival is the easiest way to stay connected during a long conference week. Set up an eSIM with Airalo before you board and you're online the moment you land.
Olympic Museum, Ouchy. The International Olympic Committee's museum on the lakeshore at Ouchy covers the history of the Games with interactive exhibits and park grounds overlooking the water. It is a pleasant contrast to intense security sessions. Allow two hours, and combine it with a walk along the lake promenade. Tickets on Tiqets →
Lavaux vineyard terraces. A UNESCO-listed landscape of steep vineyards east of Lausanne, overlooking Lake Geneva. Winter vines are bare, but the views and quiet villages remain beautiful. Take a regional train to a village like Cully or Lutry, walk part of the terraces, and allow half a day.
Lausanne Cathedral and the night watchman. This Gothic cathedral dominates the old town, and Lausanne keeps an old tradition of a night watchman calling out the hours from the tower each night. The old town streets nearby are steep but compact. Allow an hour, and visit after dark to hear the call.
Collection de l'Art Brut. A museum devoted to art made outside the mainstream art world, by self-taught creators, set in a historic building near the university quarter. Its collection, begun from the holdings of the artist Jean Dubuffet, is unusual and genuinely thought-provoking. Allow about ninety minutes, and check opening days before visiting.
