JSNation is one of Europe's largest JavaScript conferences, staged in Amsterdam by GitNation across a multi-day programme that combines main conference content with workshop days. The event is built around presentations from framework authors, core team members and library maintainers, so the material tends to arrive ahead of general documentation and covers the browser platform, Node.js and server-side JavaScript, build and bundling tooling, type systems and the current generation of application frameworks. Alongside main-stage talks and panel discussions, the programme includes in-depth practical workshops and moderated networking rooms that pair attendees by interest area. Sessions are also streamed, extending access beyond the in-person audience. The attendee base is drawn from across Europe and skews towards experienced frontend and full-stack engineers. Delegates gain early insight into upcoming ecosystem releases, direct question time with maintainers, and substantial peer contact. For the European JavaScript community, this Amsterdam conference is among the clearest annual indicators of where the ecosystem is heading.
JSNation 2027 takes place May 20–24, 2027 in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
JSNation 2027 is a hybrid event — you can attend on-site or join remotely.
The Call for Papers is open — submissions close on March 1, 2027.

Amsterdam in the second half of May has the tulip season behind it and terrace season fully underway, with light lasting well past nine. A JavaScript conference here sits in a city whose canal ring is a seventeenth-century planning exercise still functioning as a residential neighbourhood. Distances are short, bridges are frequent, and the fastest way between two points is almost always a bicycle rather than a tram.
Schiphol (AMS) runs trains to Amsterdam Centraal in about fifteen minutes, several times an hour and through the night. From Centraal, trams fan out across the canal ring and the metro reaches the southern and eastern districts. Contactless bank cards work directly on trains, trams and metro. Cycling remains the local default and hire shops are everywhere near the station.

Dutch coverage is excellent throughout the city and on the airport rail link. Non-EU delegates avoid steep roaming charges most easily with an eSIM activated before landing, since Dutch prepaid SIMs require finding a shop in town. Set up an eSIM with Airalo before you board and you're online the moment you land.
Rijksmuseum. The national collection, centred on Dutch Golden Age painting including Rembrandt's Night Watch, in a building that reopened after a decade-long renovation. Book a timed slot and start upstairs to work against the crowd flow. Two to three hours is a realistic minimum. Tickets on Tiqets →
Jordaan. A former working-class district west of the centre, now a grid of narrow streets, courtyard almshouses and small bars along the smaller canals. It is quieter than the main ring and better for an unstructured walk. Monday and Saturday markets on Noordermarkt. Two hours.
Hortus Botanicus. One of the oldest botanical gardens in the world, founded in 1638 as a medicinal herb garden and still compact enough to see properly in an hour. The glasshouses hold a large palm and butterfly collection. It sits east of the centre near the university buildings. Tickets on Tiqets →
Vondelpark. The city's main park, a long green strip southwest of the centre that fills with picnics and open-air performances as soon as the May weather allows. Cycling through is permitted and is the fastest way to cross it. An hour, or an evening with a group.
How do delegates reach the city from Schiphol?
Direct trains take about fifteen minutes to Amsterdam Centraal and run several times an hour, including overnight.
Is renting a bicycle sensible for a visitor?
Yes, provided the rules are respected: use the bike lanes, signal turns, and never leave a bicycle unlocked. Trams have priority at crossings.
What is the weather like in late May?
Mild with long evenings, though wind and rain arrive quickly off the North Sea. A light waterproof is worth carrying regardless of the forecast.
