Lalbagh Botanical Garden. A large garden laid out in the eighteenth century, centred on a Victorian glasshouse modelled on Crystal Palace. Cubbon Park. The green heart of central Bengaluru, closed to traffic on Sundays and lined with government buildings in red brick. It is the easiest place to decompress between sessions if your venue is central. An hour is plenty; combine it with the State Central Library on the same grounds.
Bangalore Palace. A Tudor-revival pile built for the Wadiyar dynasty, with an audio guide walking you through the halls and the family's photographic collection. Vidhana Soudha. The state legislature building is the city's signature granite landmark, floodlit on Sunday evenings and public holidays. Interiors are not open to casual visitors, so this is an exterior and photograph stop rather than a tour. Fifteen minutes, and it sits directly across from Cubbon Park.
How long does the airport transfer take?
Plan on an hour to the city centre outside peak times and up to two hours during them. Bengaluru traffic is the main variable in any schedule here.
What is the weather like in late September?
Pleasant and mild as the monsoon withdraws, typically in the mid-to-high twenties Celsius with occasional evening showers. A light rain layer is worth having.
Is the metro useful for visitors?
Yes on the central corridors, and it bypasses the worst traffic. It does not reach the airport, so plan a bus or taxi for that leg.
