Over-the-Rhine. One of the largest intact nineteenth-century urban districts in the United States, restored around Findlay Market and Vine Street. It holds much of the city's independent food and brewing scene. Walkable from downtown or one streetcar stop; allow an evening.
Cincinnati Art Museum. Free general admission and a broad collection spanning antiquities to American painting, set in Eden Park above the city. The park itself offers good river views. Around 30 minutes from downtown on foot uphill, or a short ride; two hours inside.
National Underground Railroad Freedom Center. On the riverfront beside the ballpark, this museum addresses slavery and abolition with Cincinnati's position on the Ohio River at its centre. Substantial and demanding material rather than a quick stop — allow two to three hours.
Roebling Suspension Bridge. John Roebling's 1866 bridge, a precursor to his Brooklyn design, crosses to Covington in Kentucky. The walk over takes fifteen minutes and gives the best skyline view. Pleasant in October light, and the Covington side has its own riverfront dining.

Do I need a car in Cincinnati?
