ServerlessDays Cardiff is the Welsh edition of the international ServerlessDays series, a non-profit network of community-run conferences focused on serverless architecture and event-driven cloud computing. The single-day event serves the technology community across Wales and the south-west of the United Kingdom. Organisers explicitly seek speakers at every experience level and place particular value on real-life case studies covering both what worked and what did not — a framing that tends to produce more useful content than success-only conference programming. Alongside core serverless material, the agenda extends to generative artificial intelligence, machine learning and cloud security. Two talk formats run: 25-minute main-stage sessions and 10-minute lightning talks, the shorter slot lowering the barrier for first-time presenters considerably. As a non-profit community event, the conference aims to cover speaker travel and accommodation, widening the range of people able to participate. For cloud architects, backend developers and platform engineers in Wales and the surrounding region, ServerlessDays Cardiff is the area's principal serverless-focused gathering.
ServerlessDays Cardiff 2026 takes place October 21, 2026 in Cardiff, United Kingdom.
ServerlessDays Cardiff 2026 is an in-person event.

Cardiff in late October is wet and windy, a condition the Welsh capital treats as background noise. The city is unusually compact for a capital: the castle, the civic centre and the regenerated bay sit within a walkable triangle, and a single-day conference leaves an evening that is easily filled. Autumn also means rugby season, which shapes the mood of the city centre considerably on match days.
Cardiff Airport (CWL) is roughly 30 to 40 minutes southwest of the city by road or rail link, with limited route choice. Bristol Airport (BRS) offers wider service around 90 minutes away. Cardiff Central station has direct trains from London Paddington in around two hours and frequent services along the South Wales line. The centre and bay connect by a short train ride or a 30-minute walk.

UK mobile coverage across Cardiff is reliable on all major networks, thinning somewhat in the valleys further north. An eSIM arranged in advance is the least troublesome route for visitors arriving from outside the UK. Set up an eSIM with Airalo before you board and you're online the moment you land.
Cardiff Castle. A site combining Roman walls, a Norman keep and an extravagant Victorian Gothic revival interior commissioned by the Bute family. It sits in the middle of the city, so requires no travel. The house tour is the highlight; allow ninety minutes. Tickets on Tiqets →
Cardiff Bay. The redeveloped docklands hold the Wales Millennium Centre, the Senedd and a waterfront of bars and restaurants. Reachable by a short train from Queen Street or a walk along the Taff. Best in the evening when the buildings are lit.
Victorian arcades. Cardiff has more surviving covered shopping arcades than any comparable British city, filled with independent shops and coffee bars. Their practical value in October weather is obvious. Castle and Morgan arcades are the finest; an hour covers the network.
St Fagans National Museum of History. An open-air museum west of the city where historic Welsh buildings have been re-erected across parkland, from a medieval church to a 1940s prefab. Free entry, around 20 minutes by bus. Allow three hours; much of it is outdoors.
Which airport is best for Cardiff?
Cardiff Airport (CWL) is closest at 30 to 40 minutes but has limited routes. Bristol (BRS) offers more choice and sits around 90 minutes away.
Is Cardiff walkable?
Yes. The castle, city centre and civic quarter are all within walking distance, and Cardiff Bay is a short train ride or a 30-minute walk.
What should I pack?
Waterproofs. Late October in South Wales is reliably wet and windy, and rain arrives horizontally often enough that umbrellas are of limited use.
