Smarter Faster Payments 2027 is the annual conference of Nacha, the organisation that governs the ACH Network in the United States. The 2027 in-person edition takes place at the Gaylord National Harbor Resort and Convention Center near Washington, D.C., and is accompanied by a separate virtual event, Remote Connect, later in the year. The programme covers the operational and strategic side of payments: ACH and instant payment rails, fraud and risk management, payments modernisation, regulation and compliance, and the application programming interfaces that connect financial institutions to corporate originators. Attendance is drawn from banks and credit unions, payment processors, corporate treasury teams, fintech providers and regulators. Sessions run across multiple concurrent tracks alongside an exhibition of payments technology vendors. Because Nacha sets the rules that govern ACH, the conference is where changes to those rules are explained and debated in detail. For payments professionals in the United States, this remains the central annual gathering for rule changes, fraud trends and infrastructure planning.
Smarter Faster Payments 2027 takes place April 11–14, 2027 in National Harbor, United States.

National Harbor is a purpose-built waterfront development on the Potomac in Maryland, directly across from Alexandria and about twenty minutes from central Washington. Mid-April brings the tail of the regional spring, with mild days around eighteen degrees and cherry blossom largely finished. The Gaylord resort functions as a self-contained conference campus, so most of the payments week happens under one roof.
Three airports serve the area. Reagan National (DCA) is closest at roughly twenty minutes by car, Dulles (IAD) sits about an hour west, and Baltimore/Washington (BWI) is about fifty minutes north. National Harbor has no Metro station of its own, so plan on rideshare, the hotel shuttle, or a connection via the Green Line at Southern Avenue. A seasonal water taxi crosses to Old Town Alexandria.
Skip the taxi queue — pre-book a fixed-price airport transfer with Kiwitaxi. Exploring beyond the city? compare rental cars on EconomyBookings.
Resort Wi-Fi covers the conference space but can be congested when several thousand delegates connect at once. Travellers arriving from outside the United States usually find a prepaid eSIM cheaper and simpler than international roaming. Set up an eSIM with Airalo before you board and you're online the moment you land.
Old Town Alexandria. A preserved eighteenth-century port district of brick streets, independent shops and restaurants along King Street, reachable by water taxi across the Potomac in about twenty minutes. Half a day is enough. The crossing itself is the appeal, and April evenings on the waterfront are pleasant.
National Mall museums. The Smithsonian museums along the Mall are free to enter and roughly forty minutes away by road or Metro. Air and Space and American History draw the longest queues, so arrive at opening. Pick two at most in a single afternoon rather than attempting the whole row.
Mount Vernon. The Potomac estate of George Washington, about twenty-five minutes south of National Harbor by car. The house, working farm and grounds take around three hours. Mid-April is one of the better windows, with the gardens coming into leaf and before the summer crowds arrive.
Capital Wheel. A forty-two metre observation wheel at the end of the National Harbor pier, giving views over the Potomac towards Alexandria and the Washington skyline. It takes about twenty minutes and works well as a short break between sessions or at dusk.
Which airport is best for National Harbor?
Reagan National (DCA) is the closest at around twenty minutes by road. Dulles and BWI are both viable but roughly an hour away, so factor that into arrival timing.
Can I reach the venue by Metro?
Not directly. National Harbor has no Metro station, so most attendees use rideshare, a hotel shuttle, or take the Green Line to Southern Avenue and connect by road from there.
What is the weather like in mid-April?
Mild and variable, with daytime highs commonly around eighteen degrees Celsius and cooler evenings. Spring showers are frequent, so bring a light waterproof layer.
