Charlottenburg, the western heart of pre-unification West Berlin, remains where much of the city's corporate and enterprise architecture community meets. Mid-October brings short grey days and the first genuinely cold evenings of the season. Berlin Zoological Garden. Germany's oldest zoo, directly beside Zoologischer Garten station and unusually central for a site of its size. Three hours covers the main enclosures and the aquarium.
