W-JAX Munich is a long-running conference for enterprise Java, software architecture and modern development practices, organised by Software & Support Media as part of the entwickler.de ecosystem. It addresses Java developers, software and enterprise architects, DevOps and platform engineers, technical leads, engineering managers and IT decision-makers working on large-scale systems. The 2026 edition is held at the Westin Grand München, with the conference area connected directly to the hotel. The programme opens with an Enterprise AI Day and full-day workshops, continues with three conference days of keynotes, sessions and an expo, and closes with a further workshop day. Tracks span enterprise AI and agentic systems, AI-driven software engineering, software architecture, cloud-native development and Kubernetes, platform engineering and CI/CD, performance, security and observability, Java backend engineering, frontend development, JVM languages and engineering culture. A livestream option with interactive Q&A supports remote participation. Attendees gain hands-on experience in workshops on topics such as Spring, modular architecture and AI agents, practical guidance for modernising Java systems and time to exchange ideas with peers. As a major Java conference in Germany, W-JAX helps enterprise teams adopt new technology without losing architectural discipline.

W-JAX lands in the first week of November, when Munich has passed autumn and started behaving like a winter city. All Saints' Day on 1 November is a public holiday in Bavaria, so the conference opens against a quiet, shuttered Sunday-like start to the week. For a five-day Java event that is no loss: this is museum weather, the light fades by five, and the city's indoor culture is at its best.
MUC connects to the centre by the S1 and S8 in roughly 40 minutes, running from early morning until after midnight. Arriving on 1 November means fewer shops but a full transport service. Long-distance trains reach Munich Hauptbahnhof from across Germany and Austria, and the ICE from Berlin now runs in about four hours, competitive with flying once airport time is counted.

Data coverage inside Munich's older stone buildings can be weak, and hotel bandwidth suffers when a large conference checks in. A local eSIM gives a fallback connection for anyone who needs to demo something live. Set up an eSIM with Airalo before you board and you're online the moment you land.
Lenbachhaus. This Maxvorstadt villa holds the world's largest collection of Blauer Reiter painting, the pre-war Munich avant-garde of Kandinsky and Münter. It is smaller and calmer than the Pinakotheken across the street and needs about ninety minutes. The Königsplatz U-Bahn stop is directly outside. Tickets on Tiqets →
Dachau Memorial Site. The former concentration camp north-west of Munich is reached by the S2 and a connecting bus, about an hour each way. Entry is free, the documentation is extensive, and half a day is the minimum to do it properly. November weather makes the exposed grounds cold, so dress for standing outdoors.
Asamkirche and the old town churches. A short walk along Sendlinger Straße links the extravagantly small Asamkirche, the twin-domed Frauenkirche and the Theatinerkirche. All are free, all are warm, and the whole loop fits into an hour between sessions, which is exactly what an early-November afternoon in Munich is good for.
Verkehrszentrum. The transport branch of the Deutsches Museum occupies three historic exhibition halls on the Theresienhöhe, with locomotives, early cars and city-planning exhibits. It is far quieter than the main island site and takes about two hours. The U4 and U5 stop at Schwanthalerhöhe nearby.
Does the 1 November holiday affect arrival?
All Saints' Day is a public holiday in Bavaria, so shops and supermarkets close while restaurants, museums and public transport largely operate. Arriving that day is fine, but stock up on essentials in the airport or station.
How cold does Munich get in early November?
Expect highs of roughly 6 to 9°C, frost overnight, and a chance of the first sleet. Layers, a warm coat and waterproof shoes make walking between venues comfortable.
Is the airport train running late at night?
Yes. The S1 and S8 operate into the small hours, and a night bus network covers the gap, so late sessions or dinners do not require a taxi to the airport hotels.
