DevSum 2027 is a two-day software development conference in Stockholm, organised by Cornerstone for people who build software. It targets developers, architects and technical leads who want practical knowledge they can apply in their own teams, with an agenda spanning software architecture, security, artificial intelligence, web development and cloud platforms. All sessions are delivered in English. The 2027 edition runs on 27-28 May and moves to a new home at Södra Teatern on Södermalm, a historic theatre venue close to Slussen and the old town. The conference brings together more than 600 attendees and over 70 sessions and speakers, mixing conference talks with in-depth sessions of around fifty minutes including questions. The call for speakers remains open until 8 December 2026. Attendees can expect hands-on learning from experienced practitioners, deep dives into current engineering practice and plenty of informal conversation between sessions. The event's size keeps it approachable, making it easier to meet speakers and peers than at larger trade shows. For Nordic development teams, DevSum is a long-running annual meeting point for keeping skills current as AI and cloud reshape everyday software work.

DevSum's 2027 edition takes developers to Stockholm in late May, when the city is green, the evenings stay light until well after nine and waterfront terraces fill up. The conference moves to Södra Teatern on Södermalm, the island south of the old town known for its cafés, vintage shops and clifftop views. Late spring is one of the most pleasant times to visit, mild enough for long walks between sessions and dinners outdoors.
Stockholm Arlanda (ARN) is the main international airport. The Arlanda Express train reaches Stockholm Central in about 20 minutes, and commuter trains and airport coaches are cheaper alternatives taking around 40 minutes. From the central station, Södra Teatern near Slussen is one metro stop or a short walk across Gamla Stan. Bromma (BMA) handles some domestic and short-haul European flights closer to the city.

Sweden is one of the most connected countries in Europe and most businesses are almost entirely cashless, so a working phone matters for payments and transit. An eSIM installed before the trip avoids hunting for a local SIM card on arrival. Set up an eSIM with Airalo before you board and you're online the moment you land.
Gamla Stan. Stockholm's old town is a few minutes' walk north of Södra Teatern across Slussen. Narrow lanes lead to Stortorget square, the Royal Palace and the Nobel Prize Museum. Wander it early in the morning before the cruise crowds, and budget one to two hours for the streets and the palace exterior.
Fotografiska. The photography museum occupies an old customs building on the Södermalm waterfront, a short walk east of the venue. Exhibitions change regularly and the top-floor café has wide views over the water. It keeps late opening hours, which makes it an easy visit after the conference day ends. Tickets on Tiqets →
Vasa Museum. On the island of Djurgården, the museum houses a 17th-century warship that sank on its maiden voyage and was raised almost intact. Ferries from Slussen cross to Djurgården in summer season. Plan around ninety minutes, and arrive at opening time to avoid the busiest tour groups. Tickets on Tiqets →
Monteliusvägen viewpoint. This cliffside path on northern Södermalm gives one of the best panoramas of Riddarholmen, City Hall and Lake Mälaren. It is a ten-minute walk from Södra Teatern and especially good in the long late-May evenings, when the light lingers. No ticket is needed; allow half an hour.
What is the fastest way from Arlanda to the DevSum venue?
Take the Arlanda Express to Stockholm Central (about 20 minutes), then the metro one stop to Slussen or walk through Gamla Stan to Södra Teatern.
Do I need cash in Stockholm?
Rarely. Cards and mobile payments are accepted almost everywhere, and some places no longer take cash at all.
What is the weather like in Stockholm in late May?
Days are usually mild and long, with daylight lasting late into the evening, but it can still turn cool after sunset, so bring a light jacket.
