Digital Crafts Day is held in Weiden in der Oberpfalz, a market town in the north of Bavaria's Upper Palatinate, not far from the Czech border. Waldnaab valley. North of Weiden, the Waldnaab river has cut a granite gorge through the forest, forming one of the Upper Palatinate's best-loved walking areas. Marked riverside trails pass boulder formations and a rustic inn midway. In mid-April the paths may be damp, so proper footwear helps. A half-day hike suits anyone staying the weekend.
Is a car necessary to attend?
Not for the town itself, which is compact and reachable by regional train. A car is helpful for exploring the surrounding countryside, the Flossenbürg memorial or the forest trails.
Which airport is most practical?
Nuremberg is the closest, while Munich has the widest choice of international flights. Both require an onward train or car journey, so arriving the day before the event is the comfortable option.
What is the weather like in mid-April?
