Quantum World Congress 2026 convenes the global quantum ecosystem at The Hotel at the University of Maryland in College Park, bringing together scientists, technologists, investors, founders, and policymakers. The event is structured around showcasing research breakthroughs while accelerating the commercialisation of quantum technologies, spanning the full quantum stack from hardware and software through sensing, networking, applications, and cloud delivery. Its sponsor base reflects that breadth, drawing organisations working across every layer of the emerging quantum industry. The congress is distinctive in deliberately mixing technical research content with investment and policy discussion, reflecting the sector's position between laboratory science and commercial deployment. Attendees encounter current progress in quantum computing alongside the funding and regulatory context shaping how quickly that progress reaches production use. Its location adjacent to Washington, D.C. brings notable policymaker participation. For researchers, founders, and technology strategists tracking quantum computing's transition from research programme to commercial technology, Quantum World Congress offers an unusually complete view of the field.

College Park sits just inside the Capital Beltway in Prince George's County, Maryland, built around the University of Maryland's flagship campus and its quantum research institutes. Late September brings warm humid afternoons near twenty-five degrees with cooler mornings. The setting is suburban and green rather than urban — expect campus lawns, low-rise research buildings and a Metro line that puts central Washington within half an hour.
Three airports serve the area: Reagan National (DCA) is closest at about thirty minutes by car, Baltimore/Washington (BWI) around forty, and Dulles (IAD) roughly an hour. Washington Metro's Green Line stops at College Park–U of Md, connecting to Union Station and downtown DC in twenty-five to thirty-five minutes. The MARC Camden Line also runs through toward Baltimore.

Travel questions? See Good to know in the travel guide below.
Mobile coverage across the Washington metropolitan corridor is consistently strong, including on Metro platforms. International visitors typically find a prepaid data eSIM far cheaper than activating a roaming package with a home carrier. Set up an eSIM with Airalo before you board and you're online the moment you land.
College Park Aviation Museum. Adjacent to the world's oldest continuously operating airport, this small Smithsonian-affiliated museum covers the Wright brothers' military flight training on this field. It takes about an hour and is a short walk from the Metro station. The adjoining airfield still handles light aircraft, which is half the appeal.
National Air and Space Museum. On the National Mall, thirty minutes away on the Green Line and a short transfer. Admission is free but timed-entry passes are required and released in advance. The Apollo and early spaceflight galleries justify a half-day. Weekday afternoons are the least congested window.
Anacostia Tributary Trail System. A flat paved trail network runs from College Park south along the Anacostia through parkland and wetlands. It suits an early run or a rented-bike hour before sessions begin, and connects to Bladensburg Waterfront Park. Mornings in September are humid but pleasant before the heat builds.
Historic Annapolis. Maryland's colonial capital lies about forty minutes east by car, with a preserved eighteenth-century waterfront, the State House and the Naval Academy grounds. Academy visitor access requires photo identification. It works as a half-day excursion if you have a car and a free afternoon.
Can I reach central Washington without a car?
Yes. The Green Line from College Park–U of Md runs directly to downtown stations, taking roughly twenty-five to thirty-five minutes depending on the destination.
Which airport should I fly into?
Reagan National (DCA) is the most convenient for domestic arrivals. Dulles (IAD) handles most long-haul international routes but is around an hour away by road.
What is the weather like at that time of year?
Late September in Maryland is typically twenty-three to twenty-seven degrees Celsius during the day with high humidity, cooling into the mid-teens overnight. Afternoon thunderstorms are possible.
