ARCI is the seventh IFSA Winter Conference on Automation, Robotics and Communications for Industry, organised by the International Frequency Sensor Association. The 2027 edition takes place in Geneva, Switzerland, from 10 to 12 February, co-located with the third International Conference on Drones and Unmanned Systems. The conference addresses the integrated ecosystem that industrial automation has become, combining intelligent automation, robotics, advanced communications, cyber-physical systems, digital twins, and industrial sensing. Sessions bring together researchers, engineers, and industrial practitioners to discuss both state-of-the-art research and deployed applications, with particular attention to how these technologies work together on real production floors rather than in isolation. Extended abstracts are due 15 November 2026, with acceptance notification on 5 December 2026 and camera-ready papers by 15 January 2027. The winter scheduling and Geneva location make it accessible across Europe. For engineers and researchers working on industrial automation and sensor-driven systems, this automation summit provides a focused technical venue.

Geneva in February is cold and often grey, with the lake producing low mist and the Jura and Alps holding snow on both horizons. The city is small, dense and shaped by its international institutions, which gives a robotics and industrial communications conference an unusually diplomatic backdrop. The old town rises on the left bank in a compact grid of stone streets, and everything of interest sits within a walkable radius.
Geneva Airport (GVA) is remarkably close, about 10 minutes by train to the main station Cornavin or 15 minutes by road. Arriving passengers can collect a free public transport ticket at the baggage hall, and most hotels issue a Geneva Transport Card covering trams, buses and boats. Trains connect onward to Lausanne and Zurich, and to France across the nearby border.

Wi-Fi is reliable across Geneva hotels and conference venues. Note that the city sits against the French border and phones frequently switch networks, which can trigger unexpected roaming. An eSIM with clear Swiss coverage avoids that particular surprise. Set up an eSIM with Airalo before you board and you're online the moment you land.
CERN. The particle physics laboratory on the city's outskirts runs free guided visits and the Science Gateway exhibition centre, covering detector engineering and computing at a scale relevant to any technical audience. Reachable by tram in about twenty minutes. Book visits well ahead; allow half a day.
Old Town and St Pierre Cathedral. Geneva's upper town is a steep grid of stone lanes around the cathedral, whose tower gives the best view over the lake and rooftops. The archaeological site beneath the nave is worth the separate ticket. Two hours on foot, and winter afternoons are quiet. Tickets on Tiqets →
Patek Philippe Museum. A serious collection of watchmaking from the sixteenth century onward, presented as precision engineering history rather than luxury retail. For an automation audience the mechanisms repay close attention. Around two hours; it is closed on Mondays and on Sunday mornings. Tickets on Tiqets →
Lake Geneva waterfront. The quays from the Jet d'Eau round to the Pâquis bathing pier stay open through winter, with alpine views on clear days and a well-known sauna at the pier itself. Bundle up. An hour's walk, and the Jet d'Eau fountain does not run in the coldest weeks.
How do I get from Geneva Airport to the city?
A train reaches the central Cornavin station in about ten minutes, and arriving passengers can collect a free transport ticket at the airport.
Is public transport included with hotels?
Most Geneva hotels issue a transport card covering trams, buses and local boats for the length of the stay.
What is the February weather?
Cold and frequently overcast, near or below freezing at night, with snow on the surrounding mountains rather than usually in the city.
