ESPC26 (the European SharePoint, Office 365 & Azure Conference) is one of Europe's largest independent gatherings for Microsoft 365 and AI specialists, held in Amsterdam. The programme features three keynotes, nine tutorials, and over 130 sessions covering Microsoft 365, Azure, AI, Copilot, Power Platform, and related technologies. Content is tailored to six audience segments — IT pros, developers, business leaders, makers, consultants, and end users — with talks ranging from beginner to expert level, plus extensive networking opportunities.
For a Microsoft cloud and Power Platform audience convening in Amsterdam in early winter, the city offers something unusual: a compact centre where the whole conference cohort ends up in the same handful of districts after hours. Winter strips the canal belt back to bare trees and dark water, which is arguably when it looks best. The eastern docklands offer a modern architectural counterpoint to the seventeenth-century core.
Direct trains from Schiphol (AMS) reach Amsterdam Zuid and Centraal in ten to fifteen minutes respectively, running frequently around the clock. From Centraal, trams fan out across the centre and the metro runs north-south through the city. International rail from Brussels, Paris and London arrives directly at Centraal, which is often faster door to door than flying from those cities.

Conference venues in the RAI complex see heavy simultaneous device load. An eSIM keeps a delegate connected independently of the venue network. Set up an eSIM with Airalo before you board and you're online the moment you land.

NEMO Science Museum. A green copper building shaped like a rising ship hull, filled with hands-on physics and engineering exhibits aimed at all ages. The stepped roof terrace is publicly accessible and gives a free panorama over the eastern harbour. Two hours inside, plus twenty minutes on the roof. Tickets on Tiqets →
Anne Frank House. The preserved secret annexe, presented with restraint and considerable historical context. Tickets are released online on a fixed schedule six weeks ahead and disappear within minutes. Ninety minutes, and there is no walk-up entry, so plan far in advance.
Eastern Docklands. A regenerated port district of striking contemporary residential architecture, connected by sculptural pedestrian bridges across former shipping basins. Java-eiland and Borneo Sporenburg are the most rewarding stretches. Ninety minutes on foot, and it is largely free of other visitors.
Vondelpark. The city's principal park, laid out in English landscape style, with an open-air theatre and several cafes. In December it is bare and atmospheric rather than lush. Forty-five minutes to cross, and it sits directly behind the Museumplein.
Is cycling practical for visitors?
It is possible and rentals are everywhere, but December rain, wind and darkness make trams a more comfortable choice for short stays.
How far is the conference district from the centre?
The RAI area is roughly fifteen minutes from Amsterdam Centraal by metro or tram, so staying centrally remains practical.
Are cards accepted everywhere?
Card payment is near universal, though some Dutch establishments accept only Maestro or local debit. Carrying a small amount of cash avoids awkwardness.
