Hardware Pioneers Max is a UK exhibition and conference where electronics, embedded systems and edge AI meet. Organised under the Hardware Pioneers brand, it targets hardware engineers, embedded developers, product designers and technology buyers involved in building connected and intelligent devices, from semiconductors and embedded processors to sensors and power electronics. The 2027 edition takes place on 9 and 10 June at ExCeL London as an in-person event. The organisers cite more than 8,000 attendees, over 350 exhibitors and upwards of 150 speakers, which positions it among the larger embedded and IoT conferences in London in 2027. Its subject range covers AI hardware, FPGA technology, wireless and RF, cellular IoT, IoT security and electromechanical components, giving a broad view of the modern hardware stack. Visitors can tour a large exhibition floor to evaluate components and development tools, then attend conference sessions on design challenges and emerging silicon; the 2027 programme had not yet been announced at the time of writing. A separately ticketed evening reception on the first day adds a networking option. For the hardware community, the event provides a rare single place to see much of the electronics supply chain at once.

ExCeL sits in the Royal Docks in east London, a converted dock basin with the water still on both sides of the halls - a completely different setting from the city's west-end venues. June brings the best of the British year: around 21C, light until well past nine, and a riverside quarter that is pleasant rather than merely functional. Greenwich and Canary Wharf are both minutes away, which makes the evenings here unusually easy to plan.
London City Airport (LCY) is the standout option, about 10 minutes from ExCeL on the DLR - few conference venues anywhere are that close to an airport. The Elizabeth line reaches Custom House station beside the venue, connecting to Heathrow in around 45 minutes and to Paddington and the West End directly. The DLR also links Canary Wharf and Bank. Contactless payment works across all of it.

The Docklands has strong coverage and the Elizabeth line carries mobile signal through its tunnels. An eSIM arranged before arrival keeps non-UK delegates off roaming charges for the duration. Set up an eSIM with Airalo before you board and you're online the moment you land.
Maritime Greenwich. Across the river and a short DLR ride: the Cutty Sark, the Old Royal Naval College painted hall, and the Royal Observatory on the hill with the prime meridian and a fine London view. A UNESCO site and an easy half-day. Go up to the observatory last, for the view at golden hour. Tickets on Tiqets →
IFS Cloud Cable Car. The cable car crossing the Thames between the Royal Docks and Greenwich Peninsula, starting a few minutes' walk from ExCeL. Ten minutes each way for an aerial view over the docks and the O2. Cheap, quick, and the most direct sightseeing available from the venue door.
Canary Wharf. Two DLR stops away: the financial district's towers, the Crossrail Place roof garden and a dense concentration of restaurants that stay open for business crowds. The best dinner options within ten minutes of the halls. An evening rather than a daytime stop.
Thames Barrier. The flood defence downstream at Silvertown, with an information centre explaining how the gates work - a genuine piece of engineering infrastructure and a fitting detour for a hardware audience. Around an hour including the walk from the DLR.
What is the closest airport to ExCeL?
London City Airport is about 10 minutes away on the DLR. Heathrow connects via the Elizabeth line to Custom House in roughly 45 minutes.
Is ExCeL far from central London?
It is in the eastern Docklands, roughly 25-30 minutes from the West End on the Elizabeth line or DLR. Staying in Canary Wharf or the Royal Docks keeps you closest.
What is the weather like in June?
Usually warm and bright, around 21C, with long evenings. Showers are still possible, so a light layer is worth carrying.
