Seoul in late May is at its most agreeable, between the spring dust and the summer monsoon, with mountains visible at the end of ordinary streets. A robotics conference lands in a city of ten million that rebuilt itself almost entirely within living memory: palace compounds sit against glass towers, and the Han river splits the historic north from the corporate districts of Gangnam to the south.
Incheon International (ICN) is roughly an hour from central Seoul by AREX express train to Seoul Station, or a similar time by limousine bus direct to major hotel districts. Gimpo (GMP) handles domestic and short-haul routes and is much closer. The subway is extensive, signed in English, and a rechargeable T-money card covers subway, bus and many taxis.
Skip the taxi queue — pre-book a fixed-price airport transfer with Kiwitaxi. Exploring beyond the city? compare rental cars on EconomyBookings.

Korean mobile infrastructure is among the fastest anywhere, and free public Wi-Fi is widespread on the subway and in cafes. Korean prepaid SIMs require identity verification that is awkward for short visits, so an eSIM is the practical alternative. Set up an eSIM with Airalo before you board and you're online the moment you land.
Gyeongbokgung Palace. The principal Joseon dynasty palace, largely reconstructed, with a changing of the guard ceremony at the main gate several times daily. Visitors wearing hanbok enter free, which explains the rental shops along the approach. Go early. Two hours including the folk museum grounds. Tickets on Klook →
Bukchon Hanok Village. A hillside quarter of traditional tiled-roof houses between two palaces, still residential, with signage asking visitors to keep quiet during the day. The lanes are steep and the views back over the rooftops towards the city are the reason to climb. Ninety minutes.
Bukhansan National Park. Granite peaks rising directly at the northern edge of the city, reachable by subway and a short bus in under an hour. Trails range from gentle temple walks to scrambles up bare rock. It is among the most-visited national parks in the world for good reason. A full day.
Gwangjang Market. A covered market operating since the early twentieth century, best known for the food alleys where vendors cook mung bean pancakes and knife-cut noodles at counter seats. Busiest in the evening. Cash is still useful at the older stalls. Ninety minutes. Tickets on Klook →
