Drupal Mountain Camp is a community-driven open source conference organised by Drupal Events Switzerland, bringing together the Swiss and international Drupal ecosystem under the motto of open source on top of the world. The 2027 edition is the sixth camp and celebrates ten years of the event, with the theme Humans with AI in the Loop. Topics include AI and Drupal, data sovereignty, the open web and broader web development practice. Davos in early March is still deep in alpine winter - the town sits at 1,560 metres, snow is reliable and days run around freezing with strong high-altitude sun. Holding an open-source camp here changes its character: sessions in the morning, lifts in the afternoon, and long evenings in a compact town where everything is within walking distance. Delegates should plan for altitude, bright glare and a slower travel day in each direction.
Zurich (ZRH) is the practical gateway, with a rail journey of roughly two and a half to three hours to Davos, changing at Landquart onto the Rhaetian Railway's narrow-gauge mountain line. The train is the scenic and sensible option; winter driving over the passes needs proper tyres and experience. Swiss rail is punctual and connections are timed tightly, so buy through-tickets rather than separate legs.

Swiss coverage reaches well up the valleys and Davos itself is well served, though signal drops in the deeper side valleys. Jakobshorn and Parsenn. The two main ski areas bracket the town, both reachable on foot or by a short bus from the centre. Half-day lift passes exist, which fits an afternoon between sessions. Jakobshorn is the quicker access from Davos Platz; rental shops are at the base stations.
Kirchner Museum. A collection of Ernst Ludwig Kirchner's work in a striking glass building in Davos Platz - the Expressionist painter spent his later years here and the mountain landscapes on the walls are the ones outside the window. Ninety minutes, and a good option on a weather day.
Sertig Valley. A short bus ride from town into a steep-sided side valley ending at Sertig Dorfli, with a small chapel and winter walking trails. It is the quiet counterpoint to the ski circus. Two to three hours; trails are prepared but boots and layers are essential.
Davosersee winter trail. The lake north of town freezes and the prepared path around it makes an easy flat hour on foot, with the Parsenn slopes above. Accessible directly from the Davos Dorf end of town without needing a lift ticket or equipment.
