Mid-November lands Mexico City squarely in its dry season: clear skies, mild afternoons and cool evenings, with the rains long finished. Puerta Polanco sits in Polanco, a grid of wide tree-lined avenues, embassies and some of the country's best-regarded restaurants, bordering Chapultepec forest. Attendees flying in should also plan for the altitude, since the city sits above 2,200 metres and the first day can feel unexpectedly tiring.
Benito Juarez International (MEX) is the main gateway, typically 30 to 45 minutes by authorised taxi or ride-hailing to Polanco, longer in peak traffic. Felipe Angeles (NLU) serves some domestic routes but sits considerably further north. Metro line 7 stops at Polanco and Auditorio, both walkable to the venue area, and the Metrobus network covers the main avenues.
Skip the taxi queue — pre-book a fixed-price airport transfer with Kiwitaxi. Exploring beyond the city? compare rental cars on EconomyBookings.
Restaurants and hotels across Polanco offer Wi-Fi, but ride-hailing apps are the practical way to move around at night and they need a live connection. Setting up an eSIM before you land avoids queuing for a local SIM at the airport. Set up an eSIM with Airalo before you board and you're online the moment you land.
Museo Nacional de Antropologia. The definitive collection of pre-Hispanic Mexico, on the Polanco edge of Chapultepec and a fifteen-minute walk from the conference district. The Mexica hall with the Sun Stone justifies the visit on its own. Allow three hours minimum; closed Mondays, and quietest right at opening. Tickets on Tiqets →
Museo Soumaya. The silver-tiled tower in Plaza Carso, ten minutes from Polanco proper. Entry is free and the spiral ramp climbs past European sculpture to a top-floor Rodin collection. Ninety minutes is enough, and the adjacent Museo Jumex handles contemporary work if you want both in one afternoon.
Bosque de Chapultepec. The city's enormous central forest, immediately south of Polanco, with lakes, walking paths and the hilltop castle. November mornings are crisp and clear, ideal before sessions start. The castle needs a ticket and about two hours; the park itself is free and open daily except Monday for the museums.
Centro Historico. The colonial core around the Zocalo, roughly thirty minutes away by metro line 7 then line 2. Templo Mayor, the cathedral and the Palacio de Bellas Artes cluster within a few blocks. Go on a weekend morning when the plaza is at its liveliest and traffic is lightest. Tickets on Tiqets →
How should I handle the altitude?
Mexico City sits above 2,200 metres, so take the first day gently, drink more water than usual and go easy on alcohol. Most visitors adjust within a day or two.
What is the weather like in November?
Dry and pleasant, with daytime highs commonly around 22 Celsius and evenings dropping into single digits. Bring a jacket for after dark even if afternoons feel warm.
Is a car needed to get around?
No, and it is a hindrance. Metro line 7 serves Polanco directly, ride-hailing is inexpensive, and driving restrictions plus parking scarcity make a rental more trouble than it is worth.
