Teufelsberg. An abandoned Cold War listening station built on a rubble hill in the Grunewald forest, its radomes now covered in graffiti. Access is via a paid site entrance and involves a twenty-minute uphill walk. Go in daylight and expect mud after November rain.
Mauermuseum at Checkpoint Charlie. A dense, deliberately unpolished archive of escape attempts across the inner-German border, including the vehicles and devices used. The crowded presentation is part of its character. Allow ninety minutes, and expect the surrounding street to be heavily touristed.
